Yes it is under warranty company pc...
I have so much stuff on it I hate to turn it in, they have no heart on
saving and backing stuff up. I did back it up about a month ago. You know
how it goes they will say "YOU TORE IT UP".
I can get past the blue screen, just no hardware now.

XP doesn't use any of those files.
edit them if at prompt (edit <filename>)
comment out/remove entries that are not necessary reboot .
Not going to make any difference even if the OP has those files.
Also check if you can select 'last known good startup???....' at boot
time
Select a different 'hardware profile' , F8?? key- Latest
Disconnect any recently installed hardware, camera, cable etc...
I had similar problem, when I installed itunes ... found the entries
in a startup file and uninstalled it.

I am running Windows XP SP2 on a Dell Latude D610 (Laptop).
It has given me a lot of trouble booting up when it is not docked.
Mostly
the blue screen of death!
Recently I started trying to stop some of the Startup programs in
MSCONFIG. Now all but 6 items under the Services tab ARE GONE, and
all the items in the device manager are also gone.
Can anyone help me Please! there are no earlier system restore
points they
disappeared as well.
Doc, I hate to say this but it sounds like hardware failure. One way to
check is to write down the Stop Error (the white numbers and letters on
the Blue Screen) and research it here:

I hope the laptop is still under warranty.
