Re: Username puzzle...?

In Control Panel - User Accounts click the Advanced button on the Advanced
tab

Under Local Users and Groups expand Users

You logon name is the name that appears in this list.
Double click it, the full name property is entered in this dialog.

Howdy,

I am confused by an odd Username situation, and could use
some help:

On my laptop, in Control Panel | Users, I show two users
only. One shows my first name (as Administrator), and the
other is Guest.

When I log on from the machine itself, my first name
displays as it should: "Kenneth", I enter my password, and
all is well.

But, for the last few days, I have been wrestling with a
remote logon problem:

If I tried to log on to \\MachineName\C$ by entering
"Kenneth" (without quotes) with my password, the logon
failed.

Then, I noticed something on my laptop:

If I go into Task Manager, and click on the Users Tab, the
user that appears shows my Full name, that is First and Last
even though that is not the name of my account in Control
Panel.

With that information, I tried the remote logon again, but
instead of entering my username (first only) I entered my
full name and the logon succeeded!

Where is this full name thing coming from if not Control
Panel | Users, and what can I do to correct it?

Sincere thanks for any help on this,
--
Kenneth
