There is a folder called grub on the <root>/boot/ folder of my Linux
partition. I'm assuming that then GRUB is on the Linux partition? To restore
the Windows bootloader (reset the MBR) I think there is a fixmbr command for
the recovery console on the Windows XP CD. Anyone have any info on that?

I have a Vista RC1, XP, Ubuntu Linux 6.06LTS triple-boot system. My Windows
Partitions are:

C:/ - (Windows XP) NTFS 100GB
E:/ - (Windows Vista RC1) NTFS 90GB
F:/ - FAT32 10GB

My Linux partitions are:

/dev/sda6 - Linux installation- ext3 format-35GB
/dev/sda7 - linux-swap 5GB

I wanted to uninstall Ubuntu. So is formatting the 2 linux partitions all I
have to do? Will formatting them remove the GRUB bootloader?

That depends where the GRUB bootloader was installed in the first
place. Did you install it to the MBR of your master drive (C) or to
the root of sda6? Ubuntu will usually default to installing GRUB to
the MBR of the master drive. If GRUB was installed to (C), formatting
sda6 and sda7 will not remove it.
