System Monitoring Software

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

I am looking for a program that will allow me to manually monitor
install programs. I would like it to prompt me to make registry
entries, and tell me what registry entries are being made. I would also
like it to tell me what and where it is placing any files (especially
hidden). Does this type of program exist? Could you point me to it?

Thanks
Pat
