Same problem! I tried 'msconfig' but couldn't find MSN. I saw options
for using only basic start up menus but I don't understand their use.
I would avoid using msconfig unless you actually know that you have to go
there. It sounds like you're trying to set up AOL on your internet
connection but don't actually have a Windows XP question: You might want
to direct your question to the right audience: http://help.aol.com/
for free. OK. When I upgraded to DSL MSN came with service, ( I use my old
MSN and AOL address)When I load xp the desk top appears and soon after MSN
messenger, MSN Today and AOL sign in page appear. Want only the desk with
icons only. I now x them out. I think that without them loading the
computer would boot quicker.
Ah, OK. I misunderstood what you were trying to do but I think I have it
now. Here's where I think you're at: You recently switched from AOL to
MSN, and don't use AOL any longer. If this is the case, you'll want to go
to the Add/Remove Programs control panel and uninstall AOL.
If you still use AOL and just don't want it to appear on startup, check your
startup folder in Start > Programs > Startup. If AOL is in that menu,
right-click on it and click Delete. If it doesn't appear there, then
you'll still want to check AOL's website for help on this one.
