Re: XP and games in the last few days, something odd...

Is System Restore enabled on the machines? If so I'd try going back to September and seeing if they're back to normal.

I'm pretty sure Microsoft have released an update recently (no longer running XP so going on what I've read), so that is a possibility.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Since monday 1st October, weve noticed something rather odd, with games
under Windows XP

on four different computers, that are not connected to each other, we have
noticed some really weird game problems.

On one computer Call of duty 2 has suddenly developed extremely long load
times.

On 3 other computers, Other game slow downs have occured,

On one of these Call of duty runs fine, but Jedi Academy now has extremely
long load times.

On another Command and conquer generals now runs too fast, and is unplayable
even with a reinstall.

This has only started happening since monday.

Has there been any weird MS updates that could account for this bizarre
behaviour.

Jedi academy before monday, was running fine. Now it takes almost 20 seconds
to load the game. the basic startup takes almost that time. To load a map
takes 20 seconds. Before monday the load time was almost immediate. No
modifications have been made, even a reinstall changes nothing.

Call of duty since sunday night, now loads very slowly and game play is very
glitchy.

As this is happening on four different computers, we cant explain it. does
anyone else have this problem?

has there been an MS update that all of sudden could account for this.

All four machines have been checked for virus and spyware, none of them are
connected to each other in any way. But there all seem to be sufferring from
non specific game slowdowns all of a sudden since monday?
