Sceensaver/Java question

I've been having a problem where my screensaver stops working sporadically.
Sometimes it works just fine and other times it stops completely. I've
tried different things to fix it to no avail and have been watching for
patterns. The only pattern I've been able to identify is that it seems to
stop working when ever I go out to Pogo to play chess. It seems like after
closing out of Pogo, the screensaver will not come on again until I manually
set it or restart the computer.

Pogo appears to be heavy Java. Is there any chance that Java code could
affect my screensaver? If so, is there something I can look for or
something I can do to prevent it? I know this is kind of a vague question,
but it's the only thing I have to go on. Thanks for your help.
