system error: a duplicate name exists on the network
background:
new install of XP SP2 due to a ghost displaying the same error message.
occurred straight after installing network adapter (funny enough).
is still on workgroup, not attached to our domain. no other computer
exists on network with this name. pc name is not the same as workgroup
name. we have no workgroup called workgroup in the building.
have checked WINS server, and DHCP server for any record and removed,
straight after reboot the message is back!
as it is not on a network per se how is this possible??
