Hi
The kb319114 you indicate worked for me.
I had the message when I ran my anti-spyware software.
I first checked whether I had framdyn.dll in the right place and since it
was the case I only had to enter the path in the system variable.
Thanks for your help

Hi,.
First you will need to locate the compressed file FRAMEDYN.DL_ on the drive
(most likely located in the i386 folder) or on the Windows SP2 CD.
Once the file is located, move it to the C:\Windows\System32\wbem folder.
Now go to Start - Run and type CMD then press enter, to open the command
prompt.
At the command prompt press CD\ then press enter.
Now highlight and copy the following command uncompress the file and place it in
the wbem folder.
Expand %SystemRoot%\System32\wbem\FRAMEDYN.DL_
%SystemRoot%\System32\wbem\FRAMEDYN.DLL
Back at the command prompt, right click and select paste, then press enter.
Once expanded, the file version for SP2 will be 5.1.2600.2180

I have Windows XP Home with SP2.
When attempting to use Sytem Restore, the following message appears: 'System
Restore rstrui.exe unable to locate component. This application has failed to
start because framdyn.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may
fix this.'
A search shows that framedyn.dll can be founf at c:\temp\temp.frd4a6 and at
c:\windows\servicepackfilesi386 so I am at a loss to understand why System
Restore is not now finding them.
I have tried rebooting, no joy.
On trying to re-install System Restore from the Windows XP Home CD, I get
the following message: 'Setup cannot continue because the version on your
computer is newer than the version on the CD'.
How does one re-install items from the WXP CD when SP2 is installed ?
Any help gratefully accepted.
