I've seen Windows do this in both 98SE and now XP.

I'll try to download multiple items, one after another, but after a couple
or few downloads start running, the new ones fail to connect. They just
sit
there. Soon as another download ends though, I can start a new one
instantly.
So basically something is capping how many downloads I can have at once
with
the default Save Target As downloader for Windows XP.

Right now it's only letting me download 2 files at once.

Any ideas on how to fix this? I checked Internet Options/Downloads to no
avail.

Windows is limited to 2 downloads at once by design.
Microsoft have said that they do not recommend increasing it.
