Drag-and-drop to Remote Desktop window

I am running WindowsXP remote desktop connection and I can drag and
drop files from my local computer to the remote computer using the
Windows Explorer in the remote computer. However, sometime ago I could
drag a file from the desktop of my local computer and drop it on the
desktop of the remote computer visible in the remote desktop connection
window (which I resized so as not to fill the whole screen of my local
machine). I cannot do that any more. How can I get that feature back?

I also notice that earlier in the Windows Explorer of the remote
machine, I had an icon for the desktop of my local machine. I do not
see that any more either.

Thanks.
