Are you typing in both words "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes)? If that doesn't work you might want to try the freeware app Autologon.exe from http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Autologon.html

userpasswords2 does not work on my system. I know that is what I did for.
Windows Vista but for XP, it says that the program does not exist.
I'm running Windows XP Professional

I want xp to automatically logon but I want it to use my password. I
don't
use the quick (change user screen) login screen. I, instead, use the old
fashion way where the login and password box comes up. I looked into the
registry and added the following Strings.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"DefaultUserName"="xxxx xxxx"
"DefaultPassWord"="xxx"
Thanks
1. Go to Start | Run and type in: control userpasswords2 | Ok.
2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password
To Use This Computer check box and then click OK.
3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.
You can accomplish the same thing by:
Download and install tweakui for xp and use its auto logon feature.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp
Lastly you can add the Dialog box that comes up when running control
userpasswords 2 to the Control Panel with the following tweak:
Add Control User Passwords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)
