Re: Two Installations Of XP Pro On One System Using System Commander 8

Yes.

When system starts up, choose Settings from the System Commander Boot screen
Click on Specific OS Options
In the drop-down, select one of the XP OS menu options
Under Partitions Visible/Hidden, Click on Drop-Down list box, and Enter
Mark what partitions you want hidden.

Re-do for the when the other OS is booted (hide the opposite OS).

When System Commander boots, it will hide the opposite OS you have selected.

I know this is cryptic, but I'd have to reboot to get the actual
instructions. This is all documented in the manual (page 90)

Specific OS Options Menu
This menu controls options specific to each OS selection.
Specific OS options only affect the current operating system selection
shown. In text mode only (not shown), use PgUp and PgDn to change the
current selection. If you change the current selection, any changes made are
saved as if you had pressed Ok.
Options are normally left set at Auto, the default setting. Force
bootable/active status across partitions - Most operating systems expect to
see a single partition bootable, with all other primary partitions marked as
nonbootable.
This is the default state with Auto selected. When this option is toggled to
override on, every primary partition which matches the selected partition
type, is marked as bootable. The only OSes that require this unusual
situation are SCO Unix System V and Novell's UnixWare. Other operating
systems such as DOS, Windows, OS/2, NetWare, and other Unix variants should
leave this option at Auto.

I would like to have two installations of xp pro on one machine and be
able to choose which one to load through system commander 8. I also
want them to be invisible from one another.

My original xp installation was installed when i only had one hard
drive installed, I have now added a second hard drive, I have installed
the second installation of xp to the second hard drive.

I can access both of them through the xp boot menu, but both are
visible to each other, i would like them both to be able to be chosen
from a program like system commander, but be invisible to each other.

I don't really want to change my partition setup because both drives
are pretty full and i don't want to risk losing any data repartitioning
as i dont have backups.

Is this possibe?

Help would be appreciated.
