Hi.
You can try a System Restore via Safe Mode or if you can access Add/Remove
Programs try that again.
Another option is to try the ME news Group:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windowsme.general or

I did try that too. However, I can't remember exactly the options given. I
was reluctant to do random actions. Which option would you recommend?

Sorry - you need to keep tapping the F8 key after a reboot.

Hi
Thank you Will Denny for rapid responding
Yes, there was that option, and that was chosen. Now my computer runs a
loop
where it starts the uninstall process but stops at the "cannot create
folder
\Windows\IP4000.". Then a choice is given: F3 = stop. try again =
enter.
However, F3 starts the uninstall process again. Rebooting does not
help.
XP
professional CD in the cd-drive does not start installing it. I have
not
tried to install WIN ME diskette. I think that would not help.

Hi
How did you try and uninstall XP? If you upgraded from ME there
should
have
been an option in Add/Remove Programs to remove XP.

Dear recipient
I installed xp professional over WIN ME. There was not much space in
the
drive. Anaway, installation worked fine. However, there were often
messages
about need for more space in the drive. So, I decided to uninstall
the
XP.
However, that did not work. Now my computer is stuck with the
message
"cannot
create folder \Windows\IP4000.". It does not allow to reinstall the
XP
either. Can someone find a way out of this. Reformatting the drive
would
be
an obvious solution. However, that is not wellcomed in this phase.
