This is not a Windows XP message, but in order to use this newsgroup
I find I have to sign up for Microsoft Passport. Well I did that long
ago. But yesterday I changed my email address. To receive responses
to messages on this newsgroup I had, naturally, to notify the system
to enable me to receive replies. It has taken me a whole day to get
the Microsoft system to oblige me. What a hassle. Well, I think it's
done now, but I think Microsoft should look at how The New York
Times, to which I subscribe online, does it. And many other sites
that I use. Amazon made it smple, for instance.
Thank you for reading my rant. I don't usually do this, but maybe
someone at MS (can I hope) will read this and think about
rationalising their service in this area.
The better option would be to stop using the clunky Web interface to the
groups entirely, and use a news client instead. The NNTP server is
news.microsoft.com and you can subscribe to as many groups as you like. It
is *much* much better overall....
