Hi ... I'm not sure what kind of problems you are having but to view the
microsoft newsgroups , You don't need to sign up to microsoft passport ,
There other methods you can try , One would be from google
http://groups.google.com/groups/dir?hl=en&lr=lang_en&newwindow=1&q=microsoft.public.windowsxp
If you click on the underline it will show you what I mean

This is not a Windows XP message, but in order to use this newsgroup I
find I
have to sign up for Microsoft Passport. Well I did that long ago. But
yesterday I changed my email address. To receive responses to messages on
this newsgroup I had, naturally, to notify the system to enable me to
receive
replies. It has taken me a whole day to get the Microsoft system to oblige
me. What a hassle. Well, I think it's done now, but I think Microsoft
should
look at how The New York Times, to which I subscribe online, does it. And
many other sites that I use. Amazon made it smple, for instance.
Thank you for reading my rant. I don't usually do this, but maybe someone
at
MS (can I hope) will read this and think about rationalising their service
in
this area.
