Don,
This is when I get the divide overflow error message. For some
reason, if the system is idle, as it is when going through this
process, the failure of
the program to start is a sure thing. It will start sometimes when in
the
middle of the start process when everything else is initializing. I
do not know whether this is because some other process has not begun
or whether the system is so busy starting up that it may give the
program more time to call in the resources is needs to start up.
Accept that the program won't run reliably in XP. Either:
1.Give your mother-in-law an older machine running Win9x or even DOS.
2. Use Virtual PC 2004 (free) or VMWare to recreate a virtual machine
running either Win95 or even DOS. Install Textra in it. I'm don't know
how you would print from a virtual machine but I'm sure there's
information available if you do your research.
3. Tell your mother-in-law that you can't make this work and she should
either pay a professional (who will not be as patient and nice as you
are before telling her to get over it and use a word processor designed
to run on XP.
Good luck,
Malke
