Re: HP Pavillion a265c takes 5 minutes from post to desktop

OK....BIOS settings....I have Restored them to Default. The HD settings are
all on Auto. There is only 1 Hard Drive. Its on the Primary chain. There are
a DVD/CDRW and a CDRW drive on the secondary chain. these are set to auto as
well.

Same issue...

I then set the PIO and DMA to what the Drive it self displays in the
information window about the drive....same issue.

There is no net boot option that I can find in the BIOS....besides...I am
getting the XP Spalsh screen and HD activity for the first 5 seconds after
the HP BIOS Splash...then I get the blank screen for the 3 minutes with no HD
activity (or at least no light or sound).

Someone else asked about Event Logs.....there is nothing abnormal in them.

Any advice would be muc appreciated....thank you for taking the time.

correctly setting up the BIOS options. I'm familiar with that model
and it needs adjustment to get a proper boot cycle (~45 Seconds).

Hello all...I have a HP Pavillion a265c that takes about 5 minutes from
post
to display the desktop.

here is what the system has got....
HP Pavillion a265c
2.8GHz P4 with HT
512 MB DDR ram
160 GB HD with about 150 GB free
Nvidia Gforce 5200 128 MB DDR Ram
and a ton of other stuff....

I formatted the HD, installed from Scratch WIN XP Pro SP2. There is
NOTHING
else on the system except windows.

I have ensured that all drivers are current including the System Board
BIOS.
I have restored the BIOS to Defaults as well.

So, I power the system on, it goes thru the HP Splash screen...I get the
inital Windows XP splash screen for about 5 seconds and
then....BLANK....for
about 3 minutes and then all of the sudden I am at the Log in screen.

I have reduced Resoltuion on the video to 800x600
I have swapped RAM...
Video Card....
Hard Drive (with freshly installed XP Pro)

but...without fail...this "stall" happens...

After XP installed I did allow it to install all the Windows updates.

Any ideas?
