upgrading home sp2 to professional

I have a notebook that I bought at Staples (it was an emergency) that came
with Windows XP Home, SP 2.

I need to upgrade it to XP Pro to join my business network. I have an open
license, but the only CD I have is XP Pro without any service packs.

If I try to install XP Pro, it fails because it has a newer version
installed.

I'm trying to avoid having to wipe the computer... anyone know a way around
this?

Thanks

.
