Seems sp 2 affects every machine differently - must be in the factory pre install software -- I've a Dell 2400 and my "issue" is, that I loose connectivity as soon as I install SP 2 -- on Sp 1 all is fine, but when the auto upgrade sneeks in ( with all due digilance, MS manages to seek it in) all I can do, is to reinstall the operating system ( system restore does not correct the problem). Anyone out there, do you have the solution? Please, I'm tired of reinstalling OS every 2-3 weeks. Thanks

I have experienced similar problems with sp2, and when I talked to Microsoft, they admitted that they know that there is a serious problem with sp2. so I have stopped using sp2, and I can still use all of my pgms.

I just installed service pack 2 and multiple security updates, and since then I cannot run Real player, Power DVD, Windows Media Player, etc. I attempt to play a DVD, the programs open, say there was an error the program must close, and I am unable to correct the problem.... Any help to correct this would be appreciated.
Turn off automatic updates.
