Re: one-click command

The monitor settings can all be changed with a keyboard macro program. I use
MacroMaker (freeware). Basically all you have to do is click on the desktop
and hit your macro hotkey. The key sequence goes something like this:
Application Key>Up Arrow>Enter> (here you need to insert a pause to wait for
the properties screen to appear)>Shift-Tab>Right Arrow(x4).
After this you will be on the Display Properties Settings tab. Everthing on
this tab can be set with the keyboard. You just need to write down the
keystrokes and enter them into the macro program. Post back here if you have
any questions.

Hello all,

I like to configure my laptop to extend the desktop onto a CRT monitor
I have sitting next to it. Normally I right-click on the desktop, go to
the "Settings" tab in the properties window, move the secondary monitor
to the side I want and then click "Extend my Windows desktop onto this
monitor".

I would LIKE to encapsulate this in a little command (predefined Win
command with parameters? Create a little executable?) that I could
click on and all the settings would be applied (and another to reset it
back to normal). Does anyone know of a way to do this? Will I need to
program something in Win32? (which would be doable, although I'm no
expert, tho I wouldn't know where to start)

Second question along these lines is when I manually set the extended
monitor the max allowable resolution decreases. E.g. My laptop is at
1400x1050. I can extend to my CRT on the right side and it will have
1400x1050 too. But then when I move it to the left side of my main
monitor it falls to a max of 1280x1024 and thereafter, even if moved
back to the right, it won't go up to 1400x1050. Anyone know the reason
for this?

Thanks.
