"Uninstalling the security-update didn't work..." he already did that as was mentioned in the op.

Hi there,

after applying KB917422 (917422 (MS06-051), all my apps keep on
crashing:

for example:
- Miranda
- Explorer
- BitTorrent
- DS Clock (internet-time sync)
- Windows Update (sometimes)
- FlashGet

It creates a file called "a4a1_appcompat.txt" in the temp-directory.
There it tells me,
kernel32.dll had a crash (or something like that). It also asks me to
send a report
to Microsoft (of course, I'm doing it).

After reboot, they work, but some hours later, you can't start them or
they crash again.
Uninstalling the security-update didn't work, kernel32.dll still has
the same version.

Can you help me please? I can't work with my computer anymore, since
many apps stopp
working. I don't have fun in playing in a backup, because I need to
sync all new and old
files then.

Best regards,
Lars-Daniel

Uninstall the offending update. See if turning off DEP helps.
