Made change to registry but now new problem with .reg file

Hi,

I am hoping someone will have some advice to offer for a problem of
mine.

I used a registry hack to remove the recycle bin from the desktop (can
do this through folder options now). It works perfectly - I can toggle
the Recycle Bin on or off the desktop through Explorer>Tools>Folder
Options.

My problem is that when I created the .reg file, I created it on the
desktop. Now I cannot remove that file from the desktop without the
Desktop Wallpaper turning to grey. No wallpaper pics, even if I use
Properties to choose a different one from what disappeared.

I have tried removing the file by deleting it in the Recycle Bin,
copying it to another folder but it has no effect. If I take it off the
desktop, the wallpaper disappears.

Can someone suggest how I can fix this?

The hack is:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\Folder\RecycleBinOnDesktop]

"RegPath"="Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Explorer\\HideDesktopIcons\\NewStartPanel"

"Text"="Show Recycle Bin icon on the desktop"
"Type"="checkbox"
"ValueName"="{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}"
"CheckedValue"=dword:00000000
"UncheckedValue"=dword:00000001
"DefaultValue"=dword:00000000
"HKeyRoot"=dword:80000001

I am running XP Home Version. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dylan
