Thanks for replying.
Are getting this message when you log in?
After Login in?
No it runs fine for a while after login and then while opening a folder in
Windows Explorer, it freezes and I get that message. Happened at other
times too with only one or 2 apps open.
As for services running, this is a brand new one and I have therefore not
yet changed any services from the default. I am on a home wireless system
with Avast virus checker and Zone Alarm (free) running - all exactly as
before.
I have already virus-checked (found some trojans "pre-installed")and malware
checked (Ad-Aware SE and Spybot) everything, so I do not think that is the
problem.
I looked at the Event Log. There are no "2019, 2020, 2021, 2022" events.
The only errors I see under system are related to DHCP before I had set the
wireless home network working correctly.
Under Applications, Security, Antivirus and Media Center there are no
errors.
I am kind of worried because this is a new PC and am not sure where else to
look.

What apps/services are set to run at startup?
Did you check the Event Log? Look for events like: 2019, 2020, 2021
2022
Try running msconfig and ONE by ONE, disable a startup item that
doesn't seem familiar (for ones that you are not sure about - Google
it).
If you look in this post (search for bitchbang) you will find a
similar post with info from a Google search I did earlier that may be
useful.

I just purchased a new laptop with an Intel duo processor and 2 gig
of ram. Yet, I keep getting a message about system error:
insufficient system resources! This did not happen with much
heavier loads on my older laptop which only had 512 ram!
The old laptop ran XP Home. The new one runs XP Media Center Edition
version 2002 SP 2.
What is happening and how do I solve this problem?
Thanks.
Jeff
