Group,
This is a request for information and somewhat OT, not to mention a
bit long winded, but I'd like a pointer to the right group where I
might find information about this:
I use an 8 port IOgear KVM switch that is setup for PS2 mouse. I use
an USB to ps2 adapter to plug in a USB mouse. It works fine with
several logitech USB mice I've tried.
I recently bought a Razer Pro v1.6 mouse and Mouse Pad which are
supposed to allow more accurate control of mouse for graphic work.
The Razer pro is an USB style mouse.
The Razer mouse does work as advertised and is a very precise mouse
with lots of settings, however it will not work thru the USB to PS/2
adapter and KVM switch.
I've exchanged mails with Razer PRO who tell me their mouse uses a
higher power output and will only work when plugged directly into a
computers USB port.
They say they are aware of the problem with KVM switches and their
engineers are working on a solution. Meantime the only workaround
they offer is to plug in direct to computers USB port.
Looking on the bottom of the Razer mouse I see it says:
5v --- 150mA
And the logitech I use says
5v --- 100mA
I guess that is the higher input (50 mA).
What I wanted by posting here is to be directed to a usenet group that
is devoted to discussion of this kind of stuff.
I hoped to find somekind of power adapter or whatever that would make
the KVM switch supply the needed amount thru the adapter. Or in some
other way to experiment with various ways to get this to work.
