Re: Windo opens on start up

There is a bug in Windows XP where if there are two similar in nature
pathnames in the same folder, and a Run command is created in Run (HKLM or
HKCU), if causes a problem if the pathname in the Run data is not enclosed
in quotes.

Just enclose the pathname in the Run command. If this file is in the
Startup folder and not in a registry Run key,
you need to rename the folder containing the application started so that it
is unique from Linksys\....

You can always do what you mentioned ... move the Invoke Svc3.exe to
someplace else unique.

In Windows Explorer, you need to determine what is in C:\Program Files.
Check for folders that begin with Linksys.

Checking under All Programs does not work because they are all shortcuts.

When you stated that MSCONFIG, you stated that there was a file in Startup.
Did you mean under the Startup tab, or did you mena under the STartup tab
and under the Location column, the location was Startup?

New Science,

Thank you for your response.

1. When I check MSconfig there is a file in Startup for C:\Program
Files\Linksys Wireless-G USB Wireless Network Monitor\Invoke Svc3.exe

2. There is a second file in C:\Programs as ...C:\Program Files\Linksys
Wireless-G USB Wireless Network Monitor. This is the same that shows up
highlighted in the All Program menu.

I suspect this reflects my Linksys wireless adaptor searching for the
router upon access/startup. This may be the file created when I initially
installed the system, the LINKSYS file the one I downloaded later with
updated driver and netcheck.

Perhaps I can remove or move the LINKSYS file I created with the drivers
and netcheck? Or remove the other one? I do not care that the extra files
are
there...just do not want this window to open each time.

I look forward to more suggestions/information.

Check with Msconfig and Regedit (HLKM/.../Run, HKCU/.../Run) and see if
anything shows up using the short pathname .... C:\Progra~1\Link*.

Also, open C:\Program Files and see if there is anything similar in name
to
LINKSYS in c:\progam files, e.g., C:\Program Files\Linksys Company\...,
C:\Program Files\Linksys Inc., ...)

I reviewed the other posts here describing a folder opening upon
startup.
I
am experiencing a similar problem.

Upon accessing my logon (4 user accounts on our system) the window
c:\Program Files\LINKSYS opens. This is a file I just created to put my
LINKSYS drivers and netcheck in.

Following the directions on other "window opens" answers I have:

-scanned for a virus
-followed directions for run -MSCONFIG
- followed directions for run-regedit

I did not see any files that appeared to be "linked" - pun intended -
to
this folder.

I have also noted that the LINKSYS adapter program file is highlighted
on
my All Program menu...perhaps because it is in use?

Please steer me in the right direction to remove this problem. Thank
you.
