Can anyone help with this:
Machine: HP Pavilion with Windows XP and using Microsoft Office '03
Problem: After using Office on my pc for a while (a while is anything from
1
to 4 hours), I start to get strange behaviour in Office applications e.g.
in
Word, whereas normally you put the cursor in the text and left-click to
move
the Word cursor to this point, what happens is that all the text is
selected
from the previous position up to this new point. What is more worrying is
that when I go to restart my pc, the Restart option in 'Turn off your
Computer' panel does not work. I need to select Shutdown and then restart
manually.
Re-booting the PC does cure the problem. But is seems to come back a
random
times. I don't do much other than pretty standard Office tasks and I have
not been able to identify a sequence of events that leads up to the
problem
appearing.
Can anyone help please?
I tried using the HP help line. They gave a "fix" for the Registry that
caused all sorts of problems and resulted in me having to do a full
Recovery
to sort it out. After the Recovery, I also got rid of the Norton
Antivirius
and installed AVG instead. This seemed to finish the problem for a month
or
so but its back again.
