Hi,
Did you add any new hardware and what was the file you replaced? Did you check that it was the appropriate version for the system? Many files have been updated since the initial release via service packs, you may have overwritten the file with an older version.

Rick,
can you tell me how to fix the error message that I got (below) and what it means?? I copied the files that I needed but when I booted windows, that's when I got the bsod and the message, do you think that I have any chance of fixing it?? and if it's impossible, how do I delete the old windows installation??
Thanks very much for your help,
Charlie
Hi,
If you are referring to the "r" option when booting the CD, that is to load the Recovery Console, basically a command prompt environment. To replace files there, use a command line like:
expand X:\I386\ntoskrnl.sy_ %windir%\system32\ntoskrnl.sys
Incidentally, ntfs.sys is not in compressed form and would simply be copied.
