I don't want to change the domain I attach to, I want to be able to select
from two different domains to attach to. I want to logonto my work domain
and also log onto my home domain.

Under User Accounts, I see the option to add a new user/domain but I get an
error message "The trust relationship between this workstation and the
primary domain failed"

receive the IP from the router, add the laptop in the home.com domain (right
click on my computer, computer name, click change, select domain, type the

I left out the firewall details - my netork is a little more complicated

I explained (I have a cable modem & dsl modem going into a TWIN WAN -

acts a firewall and for redundancy should either go down - it also add the
signals when they are both up for great bandwidth) ... but anyway ...

I have Active Directory Set-up on my Windows 2003 home server. I set-up
the
server with AD and created usernames/passords. I am able to connect from
another separate pc I have on my home network and it works fine. THe TWIN
Wan assigns the IP addresses. I have a hub off the Twin Wan where I have
my
laptop, other pc, a printer and the server plugged in.

Am I thinking too hard about this? CAn I just add a new user account with
the new domain name?

Do you have Active Directory at home? Otherwise you cannot connect on
home.com domain. But you can choose from logon screen logon locally (on
your
laptop name)

Normal settings for network looks a little bit different..It should be a
firewall/router that connect the clients on internet... This
router/firewall
keep you secure and also may give you the internal IP addresses (DHCP
server)

I tried setting up an alternate ip address - but
I definitely set it it incorrectly because it had disasterous results (I
had
to restore my previous settings to get it to boot properly

Who assign you the IP adresses at home?
