On Friday 11 August 2006 08:49 am, The FlipSide had this to say in
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general:

My computer started running slower lately; last couple of weeks I
noticed it. When shutting down an application; IE, Outlook,
PrintMaster, etc...., by clicking on the "X" the screen, instead of
just shutting down, slowly collapses to the bottom. I then, sometimes,
receive a message indicating that the program is not responding,
dialogue box. Also, programs seem to take longer to open up than they
use to do.

I've run anti-virus, spysweeper, sypbot search & destory.

When I attempt to do a system restore I have the choice of going back
several months, but when I try to restore I get the message that
restore did not work, nothing was changed. I have even tried restoring
it to just a few weeks ago, but still get the same message.

Thoughts?

Typical Windoze eXPerience commonly known as bit-rot. Re-install is the
only
"solution" and then you wait until it starts happening again and go
through
the process again ... and again ... and ...

When you're finally fedup with running this toy operating system, it's
time
to consider moving to a real operating system. May I suggest you look into
GNU/Linux as the preferred stable operating system for your computer.

Thanks for the help!

You're welcome!
