Hi
Depending on what kind of XP CD you have, you can try a 'Repair' install of
XP, which will leave your files, settings and programs in place. Please
have a look at the following article by Michael Stevens:
"How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install"

At first , i had this IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL problem during start up , i
read
solutions and some 1 suggested that i should try doing a repair with the
windows XP disc . I did so. however , the setup couldnt compelte and now
i
cant even enter safe mode. I dont know what to do now.. and the only
solution
i could think of is reinstalling windows.. However , i would like to have
my
files back and running. eg , my music , my pictures . Will program run
smoothly if i overwrite windows (as in reinstalling it into the same HDD)?
EG. (I've had warcraft 3 , once i overwrite the windows will it still be
there? if yes , can the program still run as smoothly as before?)
Thanks for reading.. I hope to see some light through this dark tunnel.
