I am trying to access the Shared Files folder on another computer in mylan.
I can see the computer under View Workgroup Computers, and the foldershows
up in My Network Places, but when I try to open it, I get a message thatthe
folder is not accessible, you might not have permission...........Browser
I've verified that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled and the Computer
is started on the computer I'm trying to access. I also tried temporarilysame
deactivating the firewall and nothing works.
I can access every other computer's Shared Files folder that is in the
workgroup in this lan, except this one. Anyone have an idea?
NetBIOS, TCP/IP and firewalls all deal with the transport
layer. Your problem is not related to transport - it is related
to access permissions. Assuming that your logon account is
"Bob", make sure that the other machine also has an account
called "Bob", with matching passwords, and that "Bob" on the
other machine is authorised to access the shared folder(s).
