Anyone know about Windows Briefcases?

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

I'm not sure why windows briefcase tries to consolidate databases (it
doesn't consolidate any other file types) - and the situation seems a bit
flaky (irreversible replication) to trust years of data to this method

is there anyway to make the briefcase treat databases like any other file
type?

otherwise a very valuable tool (the briefcase) is redundant to me

i know windows can synchronise a network folder with a local folder but this
method doesn't work with a flash drive (temporary local) - since
synchronising with folders (local>networked or local>local) is no
different - i can't understand why this feature has also been crippled (only
way i can describe it)

any other method of synchronising folders with a flash drive?
