HI,
Try this fix courtesy of MS-MVP Rick Rogers:
Hi,
Click start/run, type cmd and click ok. From the
prompt, run "chkntfs /d"
and hit <enter>. This should
eliminate the autochk prompt. I would also
replace the existing
autochk.exe file in the system32 folder with one from
the \dllcache
sub-folder (just delete the one in system32 and reboot, SFC
will
do this for you).

hi folks
am getting autochk.exe not found during boot - winxp home, sp2. If i
turn
off my external usb hard drive, i can get past this screen. if i
dont, i cant.
after getting into windows, i turn on the usb drive, it works fine.
chkdsk/f on the volume reports no errors or bad sectors.
Have tried:
1 - installing a new, clean version of autochk.exe No effect
2 - making sure i dont have the hotfix that some users reports causes
this error
3 - have checked to see using ptedit if i am suffering the 'hidden
partitiion' problem that some users have reported.
I cant get rid of this message. Everytime i start windows, its there
(with
or without the external drive on).
Anyone have any ideas?
thanks
