Try asking it what "Open Source" code it has checked this week Bob...
closed source code makes it impossible to have ones peers check ones code
as is done every day with Open Source software.
Yeah yeah yeah, last time I installed Linux I carefully checked every single
line of code just in case there was a } missing...

On Tuesday 04 July 2006 04:39 pm, GHalleck had this to say in
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general:
<snip>
To have an iron-clad solution, the product release must be flawless and
its authentication must be perfect from the outset.
Well that goes way beyond MickeyMouse's abilities. If you're going to
wait
for a flawless version of Windoze, you'll never see another release. The
closed source code makes it impossible to have ones peers check ones code
as is done every day with Open Source software. XP is reported to have
over
50 millions lines of code - much of it old legacy code from past versions
and way beyond the understanding of any programmer or group of
programmers
at MickeyMouse. Fisted will probably carry on the tradition of piling new
eye-candy on old code making the likelihood of getting it anywhere close
to
flawless about as probable as the Tooth Fairy parting the Red Sea. So
forget looking for an iron-clad solution coming from MickeyMouse. It is
way
beyond them. Not to mention of course, that this isn't anywhere on their
list of priorities. They are looking at other revenue streams like
charging
end-users for tools to secure an o/s that they wrote and haven't been
able
to make secure. It's called double dipping.
