Re: User name and password

I'm afraid I cannot make sense out of your post. Are you
dealing with Outlook? If so, which flavour (Outlook?
Outlook Express?) and which version? What is the "personal
file" you refer to? Why should Microsoft ask you if you
wanted to change your password? Did you ask them
by EMail? What is the "personal profile at Microsoft "
you refer to?

If this is an Outlook / Outlook Express issue then I suggest
you repost your question in an Outlook or an Outlook
Express newsgroup. When you do, state clearly what
product you are dealing with and where exactly you
are prompted for a password. When referring to a
Microsoft product, state the name of this product - don't
just say "Microsoft". And please reply quickly to responses.
If you wait a week each time then your thread tends to go
stale, and respondents think that you don't much care about
having your problem resolved.

Ok I will try. Accessing all the services provided by my new ISP works
just
fine. The user name and email address (one in the same), and password all
perform properly.

In the process of notifying those companies that I am registered with I
changed my email address in the Microsoft personal data to the new ISP
address. Microsoft did not ask if I wanted to change the password, so it
remained the same. When I look at my personal profile at Microsoft it
indicates the new email address. However, when I sign in I am presented
with
the old email address and password, both of which work. If I try to sign
in
under my new email address I am not allowed. In attempting to find out if
the problem is a password I used the "I forgot my password" function.
Typing
in the six charaters did not work, typing in the verbal numbers did not
work
and eventually I received a error message indicating the "I forgot my
password" function was not available.

Hope this helps. I am on the new ISP and the above conditions still
exist.

Again thanks,
krc

In your first post you wrote "if I attempt to sign in using
the new email the password is shown as invalid." This
suggests that you have a problem with the password
that your ISP assigned to your mailbox. You now say
"The problem relats to my registration as a user of
Microsoft products." Microsoft products do not require
a password but they may require a product key when
used for the first time after installation. They certainly
don't need a user name.

I suggest you explain exactly what product you're
using, when the user name / password challenge
occurs and what the verbatim screen message is.

Thanks.

The problem relats to my registration as a user of Microsoft products
and
not to ISP services.

I am in the process of changing my ISP. I changed my email
address
(user
name) from the previous one to the new, but left the password
unchanged.
Both the previous (old) and current (new) user names (email
address)
are
valid and I can sign in under the previous without trouble. The
profile
page
indicates the email has been changed to the new one, however, if I
attempt
to
sign in using the new email the password is shown as invalid. I
have
tried
asking for an email of my pasword but it just keeps rejecting the
request.
Any suggestions as to how this can be fixed?

KRC

Ask your new ISP for the password to your mailbox.
