Re: User name and password

Ok I will try. Accessing all the services provided by my new ISP works just
fine. The user name and email address (one in the same), and password all
perform properly.
In the process of notifying those companies that I am registered with I
changed my email address in the Microsoft personal data to the new ISP
address. Microsoft did not ask if I wanted to change the password, so it
remained the same. When I look at my personal profile at Microsoft it
indicates the new email address. However, when I sign in I am presented with
the old email address and password, both of which work. If I try to sign in
under my new email address I am not allowed. In attempting to find out if
the problem is a password I used the "I forgot my password" function. Typing
in the six charaters did not work, typing in the verbal numbers did not work
and eventually I received a error message indicating the "I forgot my
password" function was not available.
Hope this helps. I am on the new ISP and the above conditions still exist.
Again thanks,
krc

In your first post you wrote "if I attempt to sign in using.
the new email the password is shown as invalid." This
suggests that you have a problem with the password
that your ISP assigned to your mailbox. You now say
"The problem relats to my registration as a user of
Microsoft products." Microsoft products do not require
a password but they may require a product key when
used for the first time after installation. They certainly
don't need a user name.
I suggest you explain exactly what product you're
using, when the user name / password challenge
occurs and what the verbatim screen message is.

The problem relats to my registration as a user of Microsoft products and

Ask your new ISP for the password to your mailbox.
