guys,
an increasing number of users in our organisation are receiving this
message when logging off the domain: "windows delayed write failure,
etc etc index.dat"
it's always the same file, index.dat
this file has to do with cookies. that's about all i know.
i really don't know where to start to resolve this. all i can say is
it's growing by the day. some users are receiving it everytime they
logoff, others receive it occasionally.
has anyone seen this before?
thanks in advance.
The IDE drive may be failing. Check the SMART status of the drive.

"Delayed Write Failed" error message when you manage files in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=330174
The "Enable write caching on the disk" feature for your disk is turned on.
Your Ultra Direct Memory Access (UDMA) hard disk controller is configured in
either of the following ways:
You are using a 40-wire connector cable to connect the UDMA drive to the
controller instead of the required 80-wire, 40-pin cable.
Your BIOS settings are configured to force faster UDMA modes.
Also, try this:
Right click my computer , properties, Advanced, Performance section,
"Settings" button , Advanced, Memory Usage, "Adjust for best performance of ..."
Make sure "Programs" is checked...
