To expand on what Penneywise said, save what's important, and try a "clean
install" of XP. If someone comes by and can suggest a better way with
what's going on with you, take it. Sometimes a clean install of the OS is
the best way to go, but to be honest, I'm just not positive in this
situation.

can't guide you but if you need access to your OS Bart's will allow
that or a livecd http://www.knoppix.org/
Then do what you need to do - replace/delete files - or grab what you
want while you can.
