Re: any free spyware remover?

Today, with great enthusiasm and quite emphatically, MJ laid
this on an unsuspecting readership ...

Has anyone found a FREE replacement for Microsoft
Anti-spyware? TIA.

I use the triple coctail of NAV 2006, Ad-Aware, and Spy-Bot Search
& Destroy. I'll assume you have somebody's good AV...

Since "microsoft security" is a classic oxymoron in the best
tradition of "military intelligence", I have never wanted to trust
M$ for something as critical as the health of my system. And,
besides periodic malware scans, I also use JV16 Powertools (not
free) to make sure nothing nasty has gotten into my registry and I
do monthly full image backups using Acronis True Image 9.0, and I
back up /ALL/ of my data, including Windoze settings, E-mail,
everything to a work-in-progress external HD and a rotating set of
2 external HD that I swap to my bank safety deposit box.

Overkill? Maybe, but the time to decide to do backups and have a
good security plan is /before/ Murphy visits.
