Hi,
Suspect a driver, as 0x8E is usually a driver error. Even though you may have XP compatible drivers installed, one of them may be corrupted. If you're set to create minidumps, the .dmp file may contain an indicator as to which one. If you'd like, email the minidump to me at the address used here (rick@xxxxxxxx) using the subject line "per req" to get past filters.
The location of and type of dump being created is found in the system applet of the control panel on the advanced tab under startup and recovery settings.

I am getting constant spontaneous reboots, all with more or less the
following message:
The bugcheck was: 0x 1000008e (0x8000003. 0x86ea01c. 0xb9f98b98.
0x00000000)
Another: 0x100007f (0x0000000d. 0x00000000. 0x00000000. 0x00000000)
They all follow similar pattern although no two are the same.
The machine can go two days or three without a problem and then bingo:
every couple of hours.
The system: (not overclocked; problems with memory at "auto" or per
Corsair specs)
Corsair TWINX1024-3200XLPT (2x512)
Amd x2 3800+
Asus a8n sli premium (bios: 1009)
Gigabyte 6800 gs
Pc Power and Cooling 510 sli
Plextor DVD
2 samsung 125 pata
1 maxtor 250 sata
CPU 30 -35 degrees
MB: 29 - 32
PSU: dead on
Latest drivers (nvidia video; nvidia chipset: 6.70. . . .)
Am I right to suspect the memory? Or the CPU (memory controller is on
the CPU)?
Any suggestions?
