I never do work when my machine can do it for me. Even if it takes longer
for me to have the machine do it. ;-)
To go to a specific line
1. On the Edit menu, click Go To.
2. In Goto line, type the line number you want the cursor to jump to.
Notes
* You do not have to have line numbers in your document for this command to
work.
* Lines are counted down the left margin beginning at the top of the
document.
My notes:
Word Wrap must be turned off.
If you type a higher number than what you know exists, Notepad will help
you.
You'll get a message...
---------------------------
Notepad - Goto Line
---------------------------
Line number out of range
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
Click on OK and the Line Number will be highlighted in the Goto line dialog.
Some times you have to count up a few lines by hand, but what the hey. I
wasn't going to count to 261 by myself. Not enough fingers and toes. ;-)

Hi Antioch,
Modules? We ain't got no modules. We don't need no modules. I don't
have
to show you any stinking modules!
I couldn't resist. :-D
I have 261 loaded modules. I cheated, I copied the list from System
Info, pasted it into Notepad and did a Go To line number to count them.
We may never know for sure unless the OP posts back.

Thank you for that Wesley.
I thought that was what he was meaning(I took a different route though)
but the bit about unknown install dates threw me.. I have no dates of
install showing in either Prog Groups or Startup Progs, so assumed he
must have been mentioning something else.
In addition I could see nothing like he has shown - though I did in
Loaded
Modules. Perhaps that is what he was referring to??
I have just over 400 in Loaded Modules.

I have opened the Help setion of WinXP and then opened a page calledHello BJ
"My Computer Information - Software"
This shows a list of many (if not all the programs) I have on Start
Up under at heading called "Startup Program Group" . This list
shows a name
and an install date.
The list has approx 2300 items in it, most of which it says has an
"unknown" install date. I have managed to copy ths list to file
because I don';t have enough paper to print it. (97 pages)
I have appended, below, a sample of the list. If anyone would care to
peruse the entire list, I would be happy to send it to them.
Does anyone know what this is? Is this the reason my machine seems to
be slowing down?
Thanks
I had hoped you might have got a hit on this thread, but no.
So I will ask the dumb question.
I tried to follow your sequence but got stuck at the first hurdle.
Where exactly and how did you get to all these files.
Thats if you dont mind?
