The popup says "Enter Network Password" and asks for the password to
my third party Email account. The passwords are already entered and
saved for this.
So I deleted the user subkey under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Protected Storage System Provider
in the registry settings as this is supposed to solve the problem. But
it did not, probably persists with increasing frequency.
This seems to be a frequent problem as I found lots of hits on
Internet with people having the same problem, but nobody with a
solution.
Normally when this happens you have the user account/password
information entered incorrectly. Rather than deleting a registry key,
you might try re-creating the Outlook email settings.
Otherwise, for questions regarding Outlook post in a newsgroup for the
program. Try microsoft.public.outlook.general.
