Re: Full System Restore(with backup)

I read your original message again. You stated that you had to press F11
and a Full System Restore. If you did a Full System Restore without backing
up your file initially, then your files are lost. If your files were stored
on another partition of the hard drive where the Full System Restore did not
overwrite, then you can copy the files to any media device (CD-R/RW,
DVD-R/RW, external hard drive, etc.).

I haven't received the new hard drive yet. They are sending one. I have
the computer back up & running. I would like to know how to copy the files
made during backup to the restored XP I have now. I am copying files to
disc now to have for the new hard drive when it comes in case I need them.
If my computer doesn't crash again, I may not have to put in the new hard
drive, but I want my files.

Since eMachines sent you a new hard drive, you will need to install all
Windows Updates again. You may need to enable the Automatic Windows
Update feature again. Go to the Control Panel and click Automatic
Updates to enable again. Then check in the Security Center (also in the
Control Panel) to make sure Automatic Updates shows enabled.

When I started my computer I had a black screen with NTLDR missing. I
ended up pushing F11 & doing a Full System Restore (with backup). How
do I copy the files from the backup to the new file?
My computer is still under warranty & when the guy at eMachines couldn't
get it back up (he was trying with the recovery Cd they sent & it would
not work) he said the hard drive was ruint so they are sending me
another one. I have it up & running now. Any help appreciated. Do I
need to go to Windows Update to load all the fixes again? It isn't
showing up in the Security Icon.
Thanks,
Marsha
