While logged in via Safe Mode, right click My Computer. Select Properties, Computer Name. Click the Network ID button. Ensure that the machine has not inadvertently been joined to a domain.

hi, i have an xp home system. when i try to logon it gives me the error "the.
system cannot log you on because the domain <computername> is unavailable"
this is a standalone system that of course was never part of a domain. Safe
mode allows me to log on normally. If i create a new user in safe mode
without a password upon reboot the computer will ask me for a password and
then give the above error message.
thx
