Hi, I thought reinstalling windows xp might resolve some of my problems as
my
computer was becoming more and more unstable. It didn't really resolve
much,
it did help with making shortcuts work again, I now need to re install my
software and peripherals, but what I really want to do is return the
computer
back to the state it was when it came out of the box new, (then reinstall
software and hardware) which was over a year ago, so the warantee with the
manufacturer has run out. The computer, Dell, came with windows
preinstalled.
Along with all drivers.
Any ideas on how to proceed? I noticed there is software called wipe
clean,
but I don't think it was really made to accomplish what I want to
accomplish.Another reason I want to start over, but keep windows intact is
to
get rid of any viruses or bugs that migtht be in here.
Dell computers come with an option to restore the machine
to factory condition. It is usually invoked by booting the
machine with the "Restore" CD. Ask the Dell helpdesk if
unsure how to apply it.
