Re: right click on desktop takes forever

I had this same problem about a month or so ago and if you go back far
enough you might find my posting and the reply that solved my problem. Do
you by chance have NVIDIA display adapter installed? NVIDIA Desktop Explorer
was the source of my problem. I thought that I had saved the reply that
resolved my problem, but can't seem to find it.

Anyway go to http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html and download the
ShellExViewer. The ShellExView utility displays the details of shell
extensions installed on your computer, and allows you to easily disable and
enable each shell extension. ShellExView can be used for solving
context-menu problems in Explorer environment.

When it opens click on Type (files) to sort in alphabetical order. Now go
to all the extensions named Context Menu and start disabling them one at a
time until you find the one causing your problem. If you have NDIVIA
installed it most likely is your problem. I would start with NVIDIA Desktop
Explorer, if installed and disable it. Once I disabled it my problems were
solved. If you do not have NVIDIA installed, then I would start with Context
Menu extensions other than Microsoft and work your way through them until
you find the one causing your problem.

I'm having this problem that when I right click on my desktop it takes
forever for the little menu to pop up. And if I try to go do something
else,
like click the start menu or switch to an already running program while
the
little hour glass is up waiting for the menu, then the whole computer
locks
up for a long time and sometimes I just have to reboot.
I've run many spyware programs and virus detector and nothing is coming
up.
