Re: I want to stop the need to click my user name to log in (XP Home)

I was never required to enter a password (don't even have one set on this
computer) and until recently, never was required to click on my user name in
order to run windows.
I followed your tip and clicked Start / Run / control userpasswords2 {OK}and
then unticked the box that would require me to enter a password at time of
log in.
This did not solve the issue. I am still required to select my user name (at
the opening windows blue screen) prior to being able to get to my desktop.
Any help as to what I should try next? Thanks for the help.

Carey gave you the answer to the question in your
original post. What you're now asking is something
else again.
Click Start / Run / control userpasswords2 {OK}
Now click your logon name, then untick the box that
requires users to enter a password at logon time.

Oops. Spoke too soon.required
next time I turned my computer on after being off for a while I was
to click my user name to begin.by
It will not require me to select my user name when coming back from stand
mode, but will still require it when starting up from the off position.-----------------
How can I stop the need to select my user each time I turn on my
computer?
Thanks...

Go to your Screensaver tab in Display Properties and remove the
check next to "on resume, display Welcome Screen".
