Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi Jerry,

What isn't working about putting in the disk? You should be able to boot with it, agree to the license, start setup, and at the point where you choose the installation location, instead delete the existing system partition. Recreate it, format and proceed.

Hi Rick.

I appreciate your help but I am having no success. I have gotten almost
everything off the troubled computer that I need so is there a way to blow
away the computer and just reinstall Windows? Just putting the Windows XP
Pro CD in does not work.

Thanks. Jerry

Hi,

One of the difficulties here is that fixing this requires getting into the
registry of the affected system. Remote registry is the best way, but that
function needed to be enabled before the machine was messed up. If you can't
get into it this way, then using BartPE is the best, next way. After
downloading it, run the pebuilder.exe file in the installation folder.
