Error 3260, Could not update;

A problem with a software application appeared about amonth ago. The
error that the users are getting is:

Error 3260, Could not update; currently locked by user 'ADMIN' on
machine 'Win2003SRV'

This is a custom made app that is a front end to a centrally located
Access 2000 MDB database file. The admin set it up in such a way
that all the app's users run it through a remote desktop connection. (RDC)
The user opens an icon on the desktop, the RDC screen opens, the user
logs in to the server then the app runs automatically. The RDC is
closed (also automatically) as soon as the user exits the app.

"ADMIN" is the name of the administrative user on the server which
is running Wndows 2003 Server. The MDB file is on the server. My
concern is as to why this problem just happened one day to the next.
MS gives this solution:

"To handle this error, program your solution to wait for a short
period of time, and then try to save the record again. Or, you
can inform users of the problem and allow them to indicate
whether or not they want to retry the operation."

At this time, the problem is resolved by rebooting the server;
however, this can't be the solution! Once the app is locked (or
ir db at least), no one can make any updates to the DB until the
server is rebooted.

Any recommendations on how to fix this or how to proceed are
welcomed. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Regards, Saga
